This steel was specially developed for hunting knives, pocketknives, and kitchen knives. It is a stainless steel that holds an extremely sharp edge. It can be hardened to 62 HRC on the Rockwell scale and is also very rust-resistant. While 14C28N steel is very hard, it is also easy to sharpen. Unlike many similar steels, 14C28N steel does not tend to microchip. Because this steel can also withstand high lateral loads, the blade edge does not tend to roll.
