Development of the A-Joint mechanism has several advantages. Firstly, the slip joint mechanism is connected to the joint with only one double leg spring (dragonfly wing shape). In this case, the upper leg, which holds the blade open, has more pressure than the lower leg due to its material thickness, thus allowing easier and extremely fast opening. On the other hand, the blade length is greater than with conventional slip joint systems. In the area of safety, the A-Joint system has the additional positive feature that when closed, the blade is safely located in the handle area. Of course, it should be mentioned that the PARAGON is 100% compliant with §42a WaffG and is therefore NOT subject to the ban on carrying under the current weapons law.
The finish of the blade on the PARAGON - Carbon SA is satin. The blade length is 82 mm with a blade thickness of 3.05 mm. When opened, it registers a total length of 194 mm. With a weight of 125 g, it is stable and sustainable in the hand even under heavy use and allows safe guiding.
The particularly high-quality N690 steel used, made by Böhler and also known as 1.4528 or VG10 or 440MOD steel, is a stainless, high-alloy steel specially developed for the food industry and used for corrosion-resistant types of knives with demanding cutting tasks. For stainless steel, N690 contains a relatively high carbon content, 1%. For this reason, N690 is harder than most stainless steels on the market. It has very good cutting properties and can therefore be ground extremely sharp very easily. Due to the combination of very good cutting properties and the easy-care properties, the N690 steel is also often used for surgical instruments. Maintenance is simple and can be done without oil by rinsing and drying.
In the PARAGON - Carbon SA, the milled handle is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. It gives carbon to the knife a noble look and is very light and at the same time extremely resistant, making it perfect for all demanding loads.
